Salty Soul Clothing owners John and Mary Helms have made it their mission to help keep Florida’s beaches clean. The couple announces their new undertaking “Cleaning One Beach at a Time,” as a way to give back to the Tampa Bay community, and the area beaches they love so much.
As the name suggests, the Helms plan to clean Florida beaches one by one, beginning with Causeway Beach in their hometown of Dunedin, before expanding their efforts across the Tampa Bay area, and eventually across Florida and up the Atlantic Coast. Proceeds from their Salty Soul clothing and accessories line, which caters to beachgoers, Jeepers, and saltwater fishing enthusiasts, will go towards supplies and cleanup advertising costs.
According to John Helms, the couple will be joining forces with local companies to spread the word on future cleanups. Salty Soul “Cleaning One Beach at a Time” stickers, created to help advertise the beach cleaning mission, are currently available through the Salty Soul website.
The Helms duo co-hosted their first beach cleanup in April with Tripping for Charity, a family-run organization that will be traveling from Florida up the East Coast to Maine this summer, visiting 15 charities in 15 states along the way to offer any help needed.
Helms says they plan to schedule monthly beach cleanups and will join local Jeep Clubs to further their efforts.
Beach lovers interested in participating in the “Cleaning One Beach at a Time” mission are invited to visit the Salty Soul Facebook page.
